A stretch where the price range and volatility narrow can lead to a large move afterward, but it does not guarantee the direction in advance. Rather than looking only at the break of a boundary line, checking the confirmed close, the change in volume, the direction of the higher time frame, and whether the retest holds will help you tell temporary false breakouts apart.
