Comparing spreads

The spread is the difference between the buying price and the selling price. It is in effect your trading cost, so the more often you buy and sell, the wider it opens up.

Deposits & withdrawals

How you deposit and withdraw

The fees the broker charges and the fees the bank charges are separate matters. The figures below are on the broker's side.

  • Deposit and withdrawal methods — XM lists credit/debit cards, bank wire transfers, local transfers and e-wallets. Check which methods are actually available in Korea in the 'Funds → Deposit/Withdrawal' menu after logging in.
  • Minimum amount — Both deposits and withdrawals start from $5 (or the equivalent in another currency), and this may vary by payment method.
  • Fees — XM states that it does not charge deposit or withdrawal fees. It states that for international bank transfers of $200 or more, the company also covers XM's side of the bank fees, but this may change.
  • How long it takes — XM states that withdrawal requests are processed automatically and can be received instantly or on the same day. Bank wire and card withdrawals take 2–5 business days.
  • Deposit currency — Whatever currency you deposit in, it is automatically converted into the account's base currency.

Checked against the XM Help Center on October 9, 2026. May vary by payment method.

Regulation

Who regulates it

Clients who open an account on the official Korean-language sites (xmglobal.com/kr, xm.com/kr) contract with XM Global Limited, regulated by the Belize FSC.

  • Contracting entity — It is XM Global Limited.
  • Regulator — Regulated by the Financial Services Commission of Belize (FSC) under the Securities Industry Act 2021, licence number 8557558. The official Korean-language page calls this body '금융위원회' (Financial Services Commission), but it is a different body from Korea's Financial Services Commission.
  • Group regulation — XM states that the group as a whole is regulated by CySEC, FSC, FSA and DFSA, but the contracting party for Korean-site clients is the Belize entity above.
  • Segregated funds — XM states that client money is held in accounts segregated from company money, at globally trusted financial institutions.
  • Negative balance protection — XM states that negative balance protection applies to all accounts by default. Even so, losses can grow in an instant when prices move sharply.
  • Korean authorization — XM Global is not authorized by Korean financial authorities. When you use an overseas firm, it may be difficult to receive protection under Korean law if a dispute arises.

Frequently asked questions

Questions

What is a CFD?

It is a contract to exchange only the price difference, without buying the physical asset. Trading gold does not make the gold yours. You can take a position whether the price rises or falls, but losses come in the same size.

How much do I need to start?

From $5 for Standard and Ultra Low accounts, and from $10,000 for the Shares account.

Can I just practice?

Demo trading is available. You practice on the same screens with virtual money, so no real money is involved.

What is leverage?

It is a way of trading a large amount with a small amount of money. Profits and losses both grow in multiples, so even a small move against you can force your position to be closed.

Is this the official site?

No. This is a Korean-language guide that links through via referral links. Accounts, deposits, withdrawals and inquiries all take place on XM's official screens.

What about taxes?

Tax treatment of overseas derivatives trading differs by country and by personal circumstances. Check the rules where you live.

Good to know

Check before you start

A CFD is a product where you can lose your capital. Please be sure to read the following.

  • Loss of capital — XM warns that its services carry a very high level of risk and that you may lose your invested capital. Only use money you can afford to lose.
  • Leverage — The bigger your bet, the shorter the distance to a forced close (liquidation). As a rule, beginners should not use too much of it.
  • Regions served — Sign-up may be restricted depending on your country. First check on the sign-up page whether your country can be selected.
  • Excluded regions — According to official information, services are not offered to citizens and residents of the US, Canada, Israel, Iran and sanctioned countries.
  • Terms can change — Spreads, fees, and promotions change without notice. Check the official information before applying.
  • Not a solicitation to invest — This site only compiles and passes on information; it does not recommend any particular trade.
